Introduction
The Office of the Accountant General
(Audit – II), Karnataka, Bangalore
was established after the bifurcation of Accounts and Audit in March 1984. This is one of the field offices of the
Indian audit and Accounts Department through which the Comptroller and Auditor
General of India
discharges his statutory duties and functions.
This office functions under the control, direction and guidance of the
Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
The Office has been renamed as the “Office of the Accountant General
(Works, Forest & Receipt Audit), Karnataka" w.e.f. 30th September 2004.
Audit Duties

The Office is
entrusted with the audit of :
|
- Public Works Expenditure in the state and CPWD
- Expenditure on the conservation and development of
State Forests
- State Revenue receipts collected under the various
provisions
of Finance Acts and regulations by the different Departments .
- Central Revenue receipts under Direct Taxes
confined to the revenue
offices located in Karnataka and Goa .
- Central Revenue receipts under Indirect Taxes
collected by the
revenue offices located in the state

Organisational Structure
The Office
has been organized into four wings, viz., Administration, Works and Forest, State Revenue Audit and Central Revenue Audit
(Direct Taxes and Indirect Taxes) each under the control of a Senior Deputy
Accountant General / Deputy Accountant General.
